Frequently Asked Questions
Q: If I adopted my daughter many years ago, is the workshop appropriate for me?
A: Yes. The workshop covers Chinese history, language, culture, and family norms. Families who have been to China find it especially useful for understanding what they experienced in historical and cultural context.
Q: Is it possible to bring my children?
A: That depends on how old they are. The workshop material is designed for an adult audience. Children over the age of 10 may find the slides, lectures and intercultural presentations interesting. The movie, however, is not recommended for children.
A: There is now a workshop for KIDS! First one is April 10th, 2010 (ages 5-10 yrs)
Q: What about uncles, aunts, grandparents?
A: All members of the family are encouraged to attend. China is an interesting and important topic for all members of the family.
Q: Will the workshop address the adoption process?
A: No. The workshop concerns Chinese culture. Members of CAWLI staff will be available during breaks to discuss adoption but it is not the focus of the workshop.
Q: Will there be parking?
A: Parking will be on the street or a nearby parking lot.
Q: If I register now and have to change plans, what should I do?
